Fragments

Description

As a keen metal detectorist and mudlarker (as you can see in BONES) I regularly come across small fragments of blue and white pottery from centuries-old plates, cups, vases etc.

Over the past year, I've pocketed the various bit and pieces I came across and created this labor of love. As you can see there are lots of different styles and interesting patterns from Delft ware, Westerworld as well as Victorian transferware.

I then used a thick red resin to hold the fragments in place, which also creates an effect they are sinking; the bright red, helping to bring out the blue and white. Certainly a striking piece of work.
